After experiencing a couples massage at the absolutely gorgeous Post Ranch Inn in Big Sur, California I feel that I am entitled to rank it as the location for the #1 Best Couples Massage.  I recently wrote the article Escape to Post Ranch Spa in Big Sur about an interview that I had with the lovely Monika Jalovec, the spa manager at Post Ranch Spa.  After listening to her describe the beauty and natural influences of Big Sur and the ways that they are incorporated into each spa experience, I knew that I had to experience this natural getaway for myself.

My boyfriend and I made a trip down Highway 1 and snaked along the rocky cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean until we reached the dense lush forest of Big Sur.  What a perfect way to prepare yourself to enter Post Ranch!

Once you enter the Ranch you are instantly transported to a tranquil environment where the buildings are modern wood and glass cabins nestled into the trees as if they were grown there out of the earth.  We walked up a wooden staircase that twisted through the forest and led us to a soft wide trail where we could glimpse the sun setting over the Pacific as we found our way to the Spa.  Breathtaking!

The Post Ranch Spa was another hidden building tucked under the earth and into the trees with big glass windows that offered views into the forest.  The couples massage room seemed like a modern living room with a crackling fireplace, vintage decorations, and a porch that hung out over the trees.  The tranquil instrumental music added the perfect background to the experience.  My 90 minute massage was truly amazing…there are really no words to describe it!  I picked an oil created from the flower essences of Big Sur called Peace and allowed all of my senses to be satisfied.

Post Ranch Inn and Spa is now one of my favorite places in the world.  The architecture, service, and environment all fit together perfectly to create a heavenly getaway on the cliffs above the Pacific Ocean in the heart of a lush forest.  I am now just waiting until I get a chance to go back…
